The team

Nimble Ape is now 5 years old and for that time it's mostly been pushed forward as a one-man band with the help of long term contractors here and there but the business has grown in reputation around the world due to its first class consultancy quality and so we need to grow to more than just that one man band operation.

We use modern and well-supported tools to build the best possible version of our customer's vision. Nimble Ape exists to deliver the visions of our clients.

We specialise in offering consultancy around Real Time Communications solutions but recently those have centred more around the use of React and React Native to build RTC applications for our clients.

You may be reading and wondering what Real Time Communication really is. It can be phone calls, it can be video conferencing, but it can also be immersive Virtual or Augmented Reality experiences, building an application around the use of interactive Bluetooth devices. We believe in the web platform and so what we build is usually very much a web first approach but we also acknowledge that the web can't do everything we need it to.

To a degree, your days are your own; you should be able to operate in the way that suits you best but at the end of the day we're a client lead business and so your day may end up being guided by their needs; if you find working at 1am in the morning is best for you and you still make yourself available to queries during the "normal" working day, thats cool with us.

You

If you tick (most) of these boxes, then you should absolutely get in touch with us:

  • You're able to dive into anything, and pick anything up that a client needs; whether its writing JavaScript or CSS or getting your hands dirty with WebRTC internals. We don't expect you to be able to do this on day one - but we do expect a willingness and want to learn.
  • You're able to SSH into a server and edit files (or better yet, use tooling such as ansible so you don't have to)
  • You’re a quick learner who’s able to pick up new concepts whenever necessary.
  • You’re able to adequately prioritise your workload and stick to agreed schedules.
  • You’re comfortable with React or other modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.
  • You're comfortable writing Server side code using Node.js.
  • You’re comfortable being part of a small, autonomous and distributed team.
  • You're comfortable travelling to different parts of the world for conferences and to see clients.
  • It’s a bonus if you have experience with:

Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, OpenSIPS, WebRTC, Drachtio, React, React Native

    The company

Someday we might end up building products of our own but today we're a consultancy business around Real Time Communications with clients all over the world. We want to grow and move away from the limitations of being a one-man band company to give our clients the best experience we can possibly give them.

We also organise the only Open Source RTC Conference in the UK - CommCon; you'll of course be invited to attend if you want to.

We care about you and the quality of your life and how that impacts your family.

    Position includes
  • We’re a remote first company - you'll get a standing desk, anti fatigue mat, a proper chair for your back for when you're sitting, an excellent monitor and of course a laptop that's able to do everything you ask of it.
  • Unlimited holiday - this comes with trust that it isn't abused and our clients are happy.
  • Work from home or from our Dover office
  • Workshops/conferences
  • Conferences & Learning budget.
  • Flexible hours - you manage your time and you set your working hours.
  • If this sounds like you, get in touch with us at [email protected] and tell us about yourself.
