December, the time for love and harmony? The celebration of the birth of Christ? Or just general Merrymas, eating lots of food and drinking more than you should? For some, that may all be true. For others it’s the time of year we start looking at the following years technology conferences and their Call For Papers (CFPs from here on in).

Merrymas

For some it’s a profession and for others like me, we just love speaking at events and sharing knowledge; and if you’re lucky it’s both. But with conferences around the world happening every week, how do people keep up to date with what events are looking for speakers and when their CFPs end? Are you maybe thinking about applying to speak at some events this next year but don’t know where to start? Well, here’s a list of resources that both I and friends/colleagues use to keep up to date.

  • Future Insights don’t really do CFPs for their conferences, you’re invited to put in talks whenever you want and if it’s a fit for one of their conferences, then they’ll get in contact with you; well that’s my experience at least.

I get the most out of the mailing lists personally but that’s not to say I don’t use Lanyrd’s list every once in a while.

Do you have somewhere you find CFPs that I haven’t listed? Let me know and I’ll add it to the list. Applying to conferences is an all year thing but expect a fair amount to start issuing their CFPs soon.
